Self-editing

I would love to know how many members of ASPA have self-edited their books. I did this for various reasons, but cutting costs was not at the top of my list. I became very protective of my manuscript and simply didn't want it to be touched by anyone else. Then, of course, there was the personal satisfaction of being able to say: 'All my own work'. My reviews indicate that I did okay, but I would love some feedback from here too. However, I haven't yet discovered how to add my book to the ASPA library. Can anyone help this technophobe?

Thank you for sharing this, Colin. I self-edited over and over again and I will admit that it did become rather tedious. In the end I showed my manuscript to a neighbour who is an avid reader and demanded her honest opinion on both the writing and the story itself. I knew what she liked to read and felt that she would be a part of my target audience. In the end, it's the reader who has the final say.
