Championing Self-Published Authors Across the UK and beyond

ABOUT ASPA
The Association of Self-Published Authors (ASPA) is a free-to-join community that empowers independent authors and challenges outdated perceptions of self-publishing.
Born from Meet The Authors, which offers services like editing, social media support, and website design, ASPA grew into a supportive network where authors connect, share experiences, and advocate for equal recognition.
We believe success in publishing isn’t about how a book is published, but the talent and passion behind it. ASPA is here to break barriers and champion self-published authors in the literary world.
WHY ASPA MATTERS
Self-publishing is no longer a last resort—it’s an active choice made by authors who want creative control, better royalties, and direct relationships with their readers. Yet, despite its growing success, the stigma persists in mainstream media and the publishing industry.
The numbers speak for themselves: In 2023, self-published books accounted for a significant portion of all book sales worldwide. Bestselling authors such as E.L. James (Fifty Shades of Grey), Andy Weir (The Martian), Colleen Hoover (Slammed, It Ends With Us), Rupi Kaur (Milk and Honey), Mark Dawson (John Milton series) have all emerged from self-publishing, proving that quality and readership success don’t rely on traditional gatekeepers.
Self-publishing provides opportunities for diverse and underrepresented voices that traditional publishing often overlooks.ASPA is leading the charge in changing perceptions, offering resources, and advocating for the professional recognition of self-published authors.
