Synopsis
Penelope Sears is a British actress at the height of her globally successful Film and TV career. Universally admired and respected by her peers, adored by her friends and fans, she rarely courts controversy, fiercely guarding her privacy from the media. Known as Penny to her friends and family, she resides in Toronto, Canada having met her husband Marcus there thirty years ago.
What appears to be a picture-perfect life on the surface, quickly unravels, when Penny returns home one evening to find it surrounded and being searched by hordes of Police Officers. She becomes engulfed in a shocking scandal, and her ability to maintain resilience in the face of great adversity is tested to the extreme, as the veil is gradually lifted on her life.
Ultimately finding herself isolated and vulnerable, memories of a deeply traumatic experience from Penny’s past which she has unwaveringly concealed from those around her, suddenly resurface, as she is confronted by a series of life changing events.
Reluctant as ever to allow the outside world into her life, Penny soon finds herself being viewed publicly and by the media with suspicion - as secretive, disreputable, and dishonest. Her uncompromising elusiveness ultimately proves to be her undoing, leaving her public and private life in ruins. But in truth, is Penny really as disreputable and dishonest as she is being portrayed? And how will she ever manage to repair her shattered life and reputation?
