The InkBots Guide

You may have seen some ASPA posts recently talking about InkBots, so I’ve put together this short guide to explain a bit more about how it works.

InkBots is the brainchild of Lee Davies, one of the co-founders of ASPA, who is a computer whizz in his day job and has applied his extensive knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to the world of writing.
You can search for the InkBots website in any search engine, but be sure to look out for the ‘meettheauthors.net’ tag next to it, and the colourful character images.

The InkBots Home Page is self-explanatory and very easy to follow. Find it here.
A wealth of information is provided in a user-friendly way, and once you’ve read as much, or as little, as you need to get started, click the yellow prompt to begin.

By now, you will know the area of your author journey that currently needs the most help. Select the relevant InkBot from the panel that best serves your needs.

I’m choosing Voxy in this demonstration, as I definitely need some help with my marketing.
Whichever Bot you choose, it follows the same principle, with a ‘Show all Prompts’ button taking you to a further menu breaking down your requirements into more precise and specialised tasks.

You will notice that some of the prompts are free, while others require a Pro account to access them (a Pro account is £49 as a one-off fee and provides lifetime access).
But in all honesty, the free prompts are all you need to begin with, to see what you think.

If you like what you see, the good news for ASPA members is that there are currently 10 Pro licenses on offer for free, in exchange for writing a brief review. If you'd like one, please express your interest in the comments box below, and then Lee will be in touch to send you your gift.
If you're curious to see how InkBots works in action, there will be a free lunchtime webinar on 13th October, including a live demonstration and the opportunity to ask any questions. Details of how to join will be posted on the ASPA Home page nearer to the time.
There's also a three-minute video on YouTube to get you started. Watch it here.
Let’s return now to Voxy and the help he can give me with my marketing. Looking through the prompts on offer, I know for sure that my advertising campaigns need some work, so I’m choosing the ‘Amazon Ads Campaign Planner’.

Like everywhere else on the InkBots site, the instructions are clear and broken down into steps.

If you know how AI works already, you may be interested in reading the full script to see the process the InkBots go through to come up with your answer. But if that feels a bit too techy (I confess it was for me!), then you need to do nothing more than click the ‘Copy prompt to clipboard’ button and your work is done.

‘Paste’ into the Message box of your favourite AI platform (I use the free version of Copilot) and the InkBots script will appear on your screen in front of you.

Incredibly, your efficient AI friend will then know exactly what to do and instantly ask you everything it needs to know to personalise its output for YOUR book.

NOTE – If you don’t use AI very much at the moment and don’t have a favourite AI platform, then you will find a long list of options to explore beneath every InkBots prompt.

What happened next with Voxy’s prompt quite honestly astounded me. Copilot gave me everything I needed to know about marketing MY book on Amazon in seconds!
It showed me how to create different campaigns, gave me lists of keywords that customers search for, and provided book titles similar to my own that I could compete against.

In addition, it gave me Copy suggestions to use in my adverts, costings to manage my budget and advice on monitoring my adverts’ progress once the stats came in.

I could now reach out to thousands more customers who had, most likely, never heard of my book before.
As I’m sure you can tell from my enthusiasm, I am extremely impressed by what InkBots can do and the possibilities I have yet to explore. A week ago, when I first heard about it, I wondered why I needed it. I was concerned it would be too time-consuming to learn about when I never have enough time to finish off my writing tasks as it is.
But seven days on and I feel like I’ve advanced two years in my learning. My productivity has expanded beyond belief because, in my own writing bubble, I had no idea about the things I didn’t know.
I have often dreamt that if ever I won the lottery, I would employ a team of people to help me as an author. One could set up my adverts and do my marketing, another could run my social media, and I was prepared to pay very handsomely for someone to keep me in budget and manage my accounts.
Today, I feel like laughing out loud because InkBots do most of this in a fraction of the time. And it doesn’t cost a penny, because like you, I’m an ASPA member who has taken advantage of the free Pro account offer.
I urge you as a fellow self-published author to look for yourself and give it a go now: https://www.inkbots.pro
And don’t miss out on being one of the ten people to be gifted a free Pro account by leaving a comment in the box below.

POSTSCRIPT
If you’re still not sure that AI is for you and are sceptical about its ethics and usefulness, then that’s understandable. It's a very emotive subject, and there are many points of view.
The InkBots Academy has a free training course to teach you more about how it works in practice, and how it is already widely used in the world of publishing. If this is something that interests you, then you can go straight to the course here.
We could argue all day about whether AI is a good thing or not, and especially whether writers should use it. But as I said earlier in this article, you don't know what you don't know. Nobody is suggesting that it writes your book for you (absolutely not!) But as a shortcut tool or personal assistant, it may open more doors for you as a writer than you realise.

Not really sure how much I'd use it. I'm vary wary of these things. I've had a look, but I think I'd rather see a demonstration as I learn better watching others do it. I use Pro-WritngAid, but even that I don't use everything it offers. Willing to give it go.
A very interesting and comprehesive guide to Inkbots. Like me, everyone will see the benefits once they understand that this an author's must-have tool.
